  • Availability and scheduling – We considered clinics that make scheduling easy and keep wait times short so pets get the care they need in time.

What we like most about Juno Veterinary is that it operates on a membership model. So, you’ll have perks like 24/7 virtual vet chats, same or next-day appointments, and access to any Juno clinic—it’s a way to skip the wait and get your furbaby the care it needs whenever they need it.

Speaking of their 24/7 virtual care, members can chat with a vet anytime to get answers quickly without having to rush to the clinic. It’s a game-changer, especially for those “Is this normal?” moments.

On top of that, this vet is your pet’s one-stop shop for care. Think checkups, vaccines, dental cleanings, emergency visits, surgeries, and more.

We also love this clinic feels like a cozy retreat—warm wood tones, soft earthy colours, and plenty of natural light work together to ease nerves. You and your pet will both feel the stress melt away the minute you step inside.

Not to mention, setting an appointment is easy and quick thanks to their booking system. All in all, Juno Veterinary is a solid pick for pet care, especially for urgent care.

They are patient, understanding, go above and beyond, communicate well and provide excellent pet care. If you’re on the fence, let this be your sign … you wont be disappointed. It was the right move for us and our fur family.”

    Goes above and beyond

“This vet clinic goes above and beyond for my doggo! We are first time pet owners to a French Bulldog and are very paranoid. They are always there to answer questions, their 24/7 app service is a must, and their staff are incredible. 10/10! The dog actually gets excited when we go which is the best thing we could ask for. Thank you to the whole Juno fam!”

Vancouver Downtown Pet Hospital puts an emphasis on a fear-free approach, which involves gentle handling, calming techniques, and a stress-free environment. So anxious pets stay relaxed, making exams and procedures easier and more effective.

One of their highlights is their endoscopy and rhinoscopy services. In other words, they can diagnose and treat internal conditions with smaller incisions, gentler procedures, and way less downtime—your pet heals faster and stays comfier.

Their vets are also thorough with their exams and assessments, especially thanks to their in-house lab. The fur parents we talked to also shared how informative and patient the vets were, not rushing through appointments and answering every concern they had.

But it’s a bummer that they don’t handle overnight emergencies, so you’ll need to visit a 24/7 clinic for late-night or early-morning crises.

On the bright side, refer a friend, and both of you pocket 20% off your next wellness exam—a sweet little incentive for their clients.

    Pros

    • Focuses on fear-free handling techniques
    • Offers endoscopy and rhinoscopy services
    • Thorough and informative vets
    • Offers 20% off for referrals

    Cons

    • No overnight emergency services

Beach Avenue Animal Hospital is all about keeping your pet healthy before issues pop up. They’ve got the basics covered with regular check-ups, dental cleanings, vaccines, and flea/tick prevention, but what stands out is how thorough they are.

Dr. Omid, who’s got a reputation for being caring, leads the team here. The pet owners we chatted with love how he takes his time during exams and won’t push for treatments your pet doesn’t need.

Their advanced technology and equipment also impressed us, like digital x-rays, ultrasounds, and endoscopy, to figure out what’s going on with your pet quickly. They also handle skin problems, heart issues, and hormone concerns, so even tricky cases get sorted.

Just a heads-up: they’re closed on Sundays and Mondays, which can be a hassle if your pup picks the worst time to eat something weird. Also, they get pretty slammed during busy hours, so book ahead unless you want to hang around waiting.

But hey, between their personalized care and focus on wellness, they’re doing something right.

      Pros

      • Offers comprehensive preventive care
      • Experienced and caring team
      • Specialized medical services
      • Impressive equipment and technology

      Cons

      • Closed on Sundays and Mondays
      • Busy during peak hours

        Truly commendable

He is highly knowledgeable, precise, and up-to-date in his field. His expertise and professionalism are truly commendable. I highly recommend him!”

        Kind, professional, and reassuring

“From the moment we arrived, he was kind, professional, and reassuring. He explained every detail of the surgery and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. Jessi is recovering beautifully and is already back to her playful self. I highly recommend Dr. Omid for anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled vet!”

Vancouver South Animal Hospital has been a trusted part of the community for over 35 years, and it’s easy to see why. They offer a full range of services—from routine wellness exams and dental care to advanced diagnostics and surgery.

We commend their team for prioritizing compassionate care, and you can sense their dedication to treating pets (and their owners) with respect and honesty.

Bonus points? Their staff speaks Cantonese and Mandarin, which is awesome for pet owners who prefer chatting in those languages.

And their 50% discount on first exams for new pets is such a nice touch, whether you’re a first-time client or a regular.

The catch? They don’t handle overnight emergencies, so you’ll need to know where your nearest 24/7 clinic is before something goes sideways.

Regardless, they’re open every single day of the week, which sort of makes up for it. Overall, they’re a solid pick for reliable, no-nonsense care.

          Genuinely cares

“I would highly recommend this vet office! I never felt pressured to do any unnecessary procedures or like they were just in it for the money- which unfortunately is the case at some other vets. I can tell how much the team here genuinely cares about our furry best friends. Thank you so much to the team for taking such great care of Tinker and Dicey. I will definitely continue to bring my cats here <3”

Point Grey Veterinary Hospital has been treating pets since 1975, and their 50 years of experience shines through.

They focus on preventive care, offering thorough wellness exams, advanced diagnostics, dental treatments, and surgeries—all designed to keep pets healthy.

We also like to point out that their team is Fear Free certified. That means they go out of their way to keep visits calm and stress-free for your fur babies, which is such a relief if you’ve got a nervous pet.

Now, full transparency: their prices lean a tad pricier than some clinics, and we’ve heard some prescription meds cost about 10% more. But they do offer Scratchpay, a payment plan that lets you break down vet bills into manageable chunks—a lifesaver if you’re facing an unexpected expense.

All in all, Point Grey Veterinary Hospital feels like that trustworthy, seasoned vet you can trust—even if you’re keeping an eye on the budget.

          Pros

          • Over 50 years of experience
          • Great with preventive care
          • Fear Free certified team

            Incredibly knowledgeable and kind

“I highly recommend Point Grey Vet. The doctors are incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I always feel like they answer my questions and are great at explaining next steps. The support staff is particularly wonderful- they communicate regularly about updates for your pets (eg medication status, test results) and are very friendly and helpful if you call with questions. Of course, everyone is great with animals and I can tell they strive to promote a fear free, safe, and inclusive vet environment.”
