Kent Employment Law is one of our top employment law firms in Vancouver because of their thorough process to ensure they know everything about your situation. Of course, it starts with a consultation, but they take it up a notch by asking the right questions.
They handle cases for the employee and the employer, which is awesome because it shows their vast expertise. They’re also experienced in lots of industries, another thing that cements their proficiency in the job.
When it comes to their specialisation, we were impressed! They handle essentially all things that have to do with the employee-employer relationship, including workplace investigation and human rights.
The consultation fee is okay as it’s within the regular rate in Vancouver, which is a flat fee of $325. Plus, the appointment is usually scheduled for the next business day, which is pretty fast!
Sadly, there were some reports regarding poor communication. Thankfully, these don’t seem to happen anymore.
Gave me very sound advice
“I was very happy to find Ryan Macklon with Kent Employment Law. He was half the price of another law firm for the initial consult and gave me very sound advice. I was able to counter my employer and received a new package from them without getting the courts involved. I recommend Kent Employment Law to anyone who feels they have been mistreated by their employer.”

Professional and understanding
“I had need of a lawyer due to an employment situation and I was very fortunate to work with Kimberly at Kent. She was professional, understanding, and clearly walked me through the process. The outcome was exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend using this firm if you have employment-related legal needs.”

When it comes to expertise, Taylor & Blair LLP impressed us a lot! They have 40 years of experience in employment law, which is an outstanding time in the industry!
Additionally, they’ve represented clients before the federal and provincial courts, as well as handled mediations and arbitrations. Their vast expertise comes in handy for innovative solutions that will give clients the best-case scenario.
Service-wise, they can do it all! These guys specialise in all areas of employment law, including those for employees, employers, and professionals.
Notably, they have seven locations in the Lower Mainland—they’re accessible no matter where you are, and meeting them would be convenient.
On top of that, their employment lawyers can come to your home or hospital if you’re physically unable to. That’s a nice addition to their services.
However, some clients had issues with their customer service, particularly regarding inquiries. Still, they compensate for providing free consultations, depending on your case.
Provided outstanding support
“Ben Tarnow at Taylor & Blair LLP provided outstanding support with my layoff settlement case. I needed legal representation because I felt my former employer’s severance offer was low, including the additional amount they proposed for a full release. I contacted a few employment lawyers, and most asked for a retainer just to hear me out. Ben, however, reviewed my documents within an hour one Friday afternoon and confirmed I had a strong case and that the offer was indeed low. He quickly outlined my options in a clear, straightforward way. Thanks to his expertise, I secured a much better settlement than I expected. I highly recommend Ben for anyone dealing with employment law issues in BC—he’s knowledgeable, approachable, and gets results!”

The thing about Pettit and Company is they practice in a lot of areas, such as employment law, family law, and insurance defence. Even though they offer a lot of services, we still like their legal expertise in employment law.
They offer services for employees and employers, including wrongful dismissal and drafting contracts.
On the downside, since their main focus isn’t employment law, they only have a couple of lawyers who specialise in it. It limits their accessibility because they’re not the first ones to come to mind when you have a work problem.
Nonetheless, their expertise in the subject is still impressive. Their employment lawyers include the founder, Tim Pettit, who has over 30 decades of experience!
Plus, the lawyers were praised for their compassionate approach! Clients said they were effective and exceeded expectations.
Their reasonable rates are also worth mentioning. The clients we spoke with felt they paid just enough for the excellent service.
Calm and compassionate
“I had a very good experience with this law firm. Tim Pettit was calm and compassionate while offering experience and guidance during a challenging time. He knew of the best experts to call on navigating a world that I was unfamiliar with. Through every step I had someone competent and respected in my corner. I was very pleased with in how my case was resolved. I would recommend Tim to any friend if they needed a lawyer. Thank you Tim for the support you gave me and for the results your wisdom attained.”

Everyone was very responsive
“I had a great experience with Tim and his team. He went above and beyond to ensure my settlement was appropriate, and everyone was very responsive which greatly helped during this stressful time. I would highly and happily recommend this firm!”

Ascent Employment Law specialises in, well… employment law. We love that they solely focus on workplace-related legal issues because it means they have tonnes of experience in it!
These guys have decades of expertise handling small and complex cases for employers and employees. That includes workplace conflicts, human rights, and independent contracts.
What deserves the spotlight is their tailored and practical solutions. Most clients appreciated their effective and practical plans that would provide the best legal outcome for their clients.
We want to highlight that they’re a B Corp law firm, which means they’ve met the highest social and environmental standards. It might not be a big deal for some, but it is because it speaks volumes about their accountability.
Our only issue is their consultation, which is only available four times a week—it’s a minor one, though! On the upside, they offer Saturday appointments for clients with busy schedules!
Efficient, kind, responsive, and supportive
“The level of service I have received from Ascent Employment Law has been impressive. I hired Scott Dallen at their firm to assist me. Throughout the experience Scott has been efficient, clear, kind, responsive, generous, present, and incredibly supportive. He jumped in on short notice despite his busy schedule and saved me from so much stress as a result. Hiring Scott has truly been one of the best investments I have made for my health and well being. He is a brilliant lawyer who absolutely exceeded my expectations.”

Extremely thorough and knowledgeable
“Glen Stratton has been my Lawyer for more than 2 years. He has won multiple appeals in my favour due to Work Safe BC negligence. Glen is an excellent attorney, extremely thorough, knowledgeable and furthermore, a good person. I enjoyed having him as an attorney and our chats we would have, especially when we would win each appeal, EVERY TIME! Thank you Glen and Ascent for having my back throughout this challenging chapter in my life. Couldn’t have chosen better people to represent me. Thank you.”

It’s incredible how dedicated Yeager Employment Law is to BC. They’ve been practising since 1996, giving them decades of experience in handling different types of cases.
Their track record is impressive, too. Their clients have thanked them profusely for their legal assistance in winning wrongful dismissal cases.
Their employment law firm focuses on employee-related cases. While that’s awesome for lots of people in Vancouver, that also reduces their services, making them not as accessible as we’d hoped.
Still, they offer a bunch of services for employees in small or large companies. That’s what matters here, anyway.
We think they’re a solid choice, budget-wise. The one-hour initial consultation is a flat fee of $250, which is more affordable than others in the area.
And when it comes to their legal assistance, they’re reliable. From what we’ve observed, their employment lawyers were responsive, efficient, professional, and compassionate—those are qualities we love in a lawyer!
Thorough and caring
“My experience with Karen Chan exceeded my expectations! She was very professional and extremely knowledgeable about my legal issues. She was very thorough and caring and always took the time to explain all of my options to me. I was very pleased with the results. I would, without hesitation, recommend Karen and Yeager Employment Law for any employment needs. Sandi, the administrative assistant was always a very warm and welcoming face as well, she is the perfect person to make a great first impression.”

Excellent lawyer to deal with
“I had a long drawn out litigation that lasted two years. Brendan was an excellent lawyer to deal with. I was able to achieve a good outcome, which resulted in my success. Given that my former employer, and opposing Counsel was difficult to deal with, Brendan was diligent, honest, and quick. I would highly recommend Brendan over and over again.”
