The Duckworth is a no-frills hotel, perfect for travellers on a budget. This inn doesn’t have a front desk for check-in, so you just have to follow the instructions after booking your room to get the key—don’t worry, there’s an intercom if you need assistance.
You do get the common amenities, such as linen and towels, a mini fridge, and toiletries. The rooms are comfy—a far cry from big hotel chains, but they’re like a home away from home and offer a local experience.
With its downtown location, you’re super close to everything the city has to offer. It’s right in the middle of two busy streets, where you can find charming boutiques to shop at, restaurants to try Newfoundland seafood, and bars for the best local beer.
Since this is a small place (with a total of 12 rooms) and right on a busy street, expect to hear noise, even at night. It also doesn’t have an elevator and the rooms are on the second and third floors, so maybe avoid large suitcases if you can’t carry them upstairs.
Pro Tip:
If you’re only staying downtown, you pretty much don’t need a vehicle. But if you have a rental, park across the street at MetroPark because the inn doesn’t provide a parking area.
