Pho is really great to eat whatever season it is, and lucky for us, Toronto has some of the best pho joints in town. Warmth in a bowl, fragrant broth, and oh-so-tender noodles—these restaurants take pho to a whole new level.

So grab your chopsticks and prepare your taste buds—we’ll guide you through the top pho restaurants in the Six. Trust me, it’ll be pretty phenomenal, so read on!

Pho Tien Thanh

Website: https://photienthanh.wordpress.com/

Address: 57 Ossington Ave, Toronto, ON M6J 2Y9, Canada

Contact details: +1 416-588-6997

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 10 PM

Pho Tien Thanh is nestled away in the Ossington area and is famous for its authentically delicious and budget-friendly pho. Their pho dishes are served steaming hot in generous proportions.

Trust us when we say that their pho dac biet, with its aromatic broth, richly flavoured and filled with all sorts of beef cuts, is worth braving the Toronto cold. The portions and reasonable prices also make this spot a go-to among locals.

This is one of those no-fancy, no-gimmick places that lets the food do all the talking, and boy, it sure speaks volumes. Try pairing your pho with their crispy spring rolls to add a delightful crunch that superbly balances the smooth, slurp-able noodles of the pho.

Local tip: They’re often quite packed, especially during dinner hours, so try to come a bit earlier or be ready for a short wait. But believe us, the pho’s totally worth the wait.

Phở Rùa Vàng Golden Turtle Restaurant

Website: http://www.goldenturtle.ca/

Address: 125 Ossington Ave, Toronto, ON M6J 2Z2, Canada

Contact details: +1 416-531-1601

Operating hours:

  • Monday, Wednesday to Sunday – 11 AM to 9 PM

Our next stop is the legendary Pho Rùa Vàng Golden Turtle Restaurant. Their menu boasts an impressive array of authentic Vietnamese dishes, but it’s their pho that really steals the limelight.

The broth here, simmered for hours, is fragrant and flavourful! But the popular choice here is the pho tai nam—a bowl of pho with well-done beef flank and thinly sliced rare steak, cooked just right in the hot broth.

Don’t forget to grab ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee). Imagine sipping on that robust and sweet coffee while slurping that hot bowl of pho; the contrast is like a one-two flavour punch.

Local tip: It’s quite a tiny spot, so prepare to get cosy with your neighbours. But hey, there’s nothing like a shared love for pho to strike up a friendly chat, eh?

Pho Linh

Website: https://pho-linh-restaurant.business.site/

Address: 1156 College St, Toronto, ON M6H 1B6, Canada

Contact details: 1 416-516-3891

Operating hours:

  • Sunday to Thursday – 10 AM to 8:45 PM
  • Friday and Saturday – 10 AM to 9:45 PM

Next on our list is Pho Linh, a homey soup house along College Street. Their pho ga (chicken pho) is a must-try—tender chicken mingles with the delicate, savoury broth to create a bowl that is truly pho-nomenal.

And we’re singing praises about their che ba mau, a tri-coloured dessert drink. This layered jelly and coconut milk dessert is a refreshing cap to the hearty, slurpy adventure of a meal you just had.

Local tip: The restaurant isn’t the biggest, so coming in just before or after peak times is usually the best way to grab a seat quickly.

And remember, folks, it’s cash only here. But don’t worry; there’s an ATM inside for when you forget.

Phở Hưng Restaurant

Website: http://phohung.ca/

Contact details: +1 416-593-4274

  • Monday, Wednesday to Sunday – 11 AM to 10 PM

Phở Hưng Restaurant is located right in the heart of Spadina’s Chinatown. This spot’s pho party is happening all year round, and boy, oh boy, is it a blast!

Here, you’ll find a mean bowl of pho—with a sizable following to prove it! Their pho dac biet, a beef noodle soup that is a clear crowd favourite, captures the essence of Vietnamese pho in one steaming bowl.

And even better, they serve it up just the way it should be: hearty, aromatic, and, oh, so satisfying. While you’re there, throw in an order of the cha gio (Vietnamese spring rolls) for some crunch.

Local tip: Get there early to beat the lunch crowd; this place can seriously pack ’em in. Also, they offer free tea while you wait. So, stay hydrated, my friends!

Next up on our mouthwatering tour is Pho 90, situated in the congenial North York neighbourhood. This place may be one of the newer kids on the block, but trust me, it’s already making serious waves in the local pho scene.

Straight off the bat, the folks at Pho 90 know their pho. There’s something magical about their sate beef pho—it’s spicy, rich, and topped with generous portions of beef—it’s got that ‘I-need-another-bowl-right-now’ kind of deliciousness.

And we know you can’t leave a Vietnamese restaurant without trying the classic summer roll. It’s fresh, aromatic, and filled to the brim with prawns; these rolls are the perfect sidekick to your pho-hero bowl.

Local tip: Pho 90 is tucked away in a plaza and can be easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled and you won’t miss out on the fun. Plus, they’ve got ample parking—bonus points there!

Pho Dau Bo Restaurant is unpretentious and welcoming, and it’s like living proof that sometimes the best flavours are found in the simplest of settings. Their pho game is strong, folks.

The bun bo hue (spicy beef and pork noodle soup) is a must-try, with its perfect blend of lemongrass, chilli oil, and tender slices of beef and pork. Afterwards, order a glass of cool and refreshing che ba mau, a popular dessert with beans, jellies, and coconut milk.

This place is always buzzing, and it’s no wonder—the authentic flavours, efficient service, and added promise of a heavy, happy belly make it quite the popular spot..

Local tip: They accept cash only, so keep that in mind before you make your way there. Also, if you’re looking for less of a crowd, try visiting during the late afternoon

Anh Dao Restaurant

Contact details: +1 416-598-4514

Operating hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday, Thursday – 12 PM to 9 PM
  • Thursday to Saturday – 12 PM to 10 PM

Now, we have the Anh Dao Restaurant, right in the heart of downtown Toronto’s lively Kensington Market. This great little eatery serves up some seriously awesome pho, which has a bit of a reputation in town.

Case in point: the pho bo tai (aka rare beef noodle soup). Served with a broth that’s been simmered till it reaches flavour nirvana, this dish is all kinds of comforting.

Give their bánh mì thịt a try—a Vietnamese sandwich combining baguette, grilled pork, and various fresh and pickled veggies.

Local tip: Lunchtime here can get a little hectic, so if you fancy beating the rush, try to get there a bit earlier. And just as an extra titbit, the restaurant also offers a vegetarian pho option.

Pho Metro

Contact details: +1 416-750-8898

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 9 PM

Now, we’ll go over to Pho Metro, nestled away in Scarborough, another pho paradise. This place doesn’t mess around when it comes to a steaming bowl of goodness.

The proof is in their pho metro special, a bowl laden with rice noodles, flavorful broth, and a smorgasbord of meat. If this doesn’t fulfil your pho dreams, I don’t know what will.

Their com dac biet (special broken rice dish) is another top pick. The fragrant rice, coupled with grilled pork, shrimp, and veggies, makes an enticing combo.

While the joint might lack fringe and frills, it more than makes up for it with its killer pho and fast service.

Local tip: Like any other famous restaurant, this place also gets really busy during dinner times. So, my advice would be to plan your visit just outside of peak hours.

Also, feel free to BYOB (that’s ‘bring your own beer’ for the uninitiated), because they don’t serve alcohol.

Saigon Lotus

Address: 6 St Andrew St, Toronto, ON M5T 1K6, Canada

Contact details: +1 416-901-1115

  • Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 10 PM

Let’s hop on over to St. Andrew’s Market, home of the exceptional Saigon Lotus. Off the beaten path but absolutely worth seeking out, this place is a haven for Vietnamese food lovers.

Their pho tai lan is the winner of hearts of Torontonians. The soup’s depth of flavour, the proliferation of soft, tender beef slices, and the fresh assortment of vegetables—I mean, what’s not to love?

Meanwhile, their house special fried rice, garnished with shrimp, chicken, beef, and vegetables, is an absolute delight as well. As for drinks, the avocado shake is a smooth, creamy concoction that pairs well with pretty much everything on the menu.

Local tip: It’s located in a bit of an unassuming spot near Kensington Market, so keep an eye out for it. And, did I mention? They have a great assortment of vegetarian and vegan options, so a big thumbs up for inclusivity!

Dzô Viet Eatery

Dzô Viet Eatery, up in North York, is another pho gem in Toronto! Get ready to be dazzled by their pho dac biet with rich broth, tender pieces of rare beef, brisket, flank, tendon, and tripe.

And don’t you dare leave without trying their fried spring rolls. Stuffed with pork and vermicelli, these deep-fried delights are an absolute triumph.

Of course, who doesn’t want to have a good iced coffee after all these meals?

Local tip: They have a pretty pocket-friendly lunch menu, so that’s the perfect time to hit this place up. Also, keep in mind that they dish out some mean non-pho Vietnamese specials on weekdays.
