Toronto Arts Academy is a great pick for piano lessons in Toronto. They’ve got something for everyone, from beginners to advanced players, and their range of programs and teaching styles caters to all ages and skill levels.
What we love about them is that no matter if you’re into classical, rock, jazz, or pop, there’s a course for you. This variety means you can either dive into new styles or stick with your favourite genre, making the learning experience more enjoyable.
It’s also worth noting that the academy offers month-to-month programs, so no long-term contracts. This flexibility is great for unpredictable schedules, and they even offer free makeup classes.
However, their rates aren’t listed online, so you have to contact them for pricing details, which can be a bit of a hassle.
On the bright side, Toronto Arts Academy offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you’re unhappy with their service, they’ll refund your money, which tells us that they’re confident in their teaching and committed to giving you a great learning experience.
Pros
- Offers many programs and teaching styles
- Has flexible scheduling
- Has many instructors
- Provides 100% satisfaction guarantee
Cons

Access to bonus classes
“Great music program for all ages. Our son goes to Michael and loves working with him. They offer in-person and online, and you get access to bonus classes and an unlimited number of makeup lessons whenever you miss one of your scheduled ones. Highly recommend this school!”

Makes learning a fun experience
“My son has been attending Toronto Arts Academy for 2 years since he was 5 and he still loves going here every week to learn piano. The teachers are very talented and patient and they make learning fun! The whole staff is very tentative to the students and they support whatever music goals you want to achieve. My son has improved in many ways, he has more confidence during recitals and his focus in learning just keeps getting better. I highly recommend this school, I have been so inspired that I myself is taking singing lessons, I look forward to going every week to class.”

Neighbour Note is accessible because it offers in-home, studio, and online lessons to fit any schedule. If you want the convenience of home, go for their online lessons, but if you prefer face-to-face interaction, their in-studio classes are perfect.
One great perk is their free 30-minute trial lesson. After you fill out the registration form, they’ll reach out to set up the session with a teacher. It’s a perfect way to see if their style works for you before spending any money.
Another thing we like about Neighbour Note is their diverse team of piano teachers. They can match you with someone who fits your skill level and age, so you get a learning experience that’s just right for you, whether you’re a newbie or refining advanced techniques.
Just a heads-up, Neighbour Note’s hourly rates are a bit on the pricey side, around $70 to $75. It’s a bit steep, but the quality of instruction, flexibility, and personalized attention can make it worth the extra cost.
Pros
- Offers in-person and online lessons
- Offers a free 30-minute lesson
- Great for both kids and adults
Cons
- Slightly pricier than others
Amazing at personalizing lessons
“My daughter really enjoyed Neighbour Note. John, the instructor, was amazing at personalizing the piano lessons by her; teaching her snippets of her favourite songs. Daily practice was meant to be digestible . I cannot say enough good things about this company. Very flexible and great teachers.”

Great at motivating kids
“My son started taking piano lessons when he was five and a half years old. After 6 months he wanted to quit. At this time we switched teachers to John Force. I couldn’t believe the change! My son started to love the piano and would look forward to lessons. It has been over 2 years now and he is still going strong. John is patient, makes learning fun – he just know how to motivate kids. I couldn’t recommend him enough.”

We appreciate that Perfect Pitch lets you try a free trial class before you commit. It’s a great way to check out their teaching style and see if it’s a good fit for you without any financial pressure.
Their small group classes are a steal at $42 for an hour. It’s a sweet deal if you’re looking to learn piano on a budget.
On the other hand, if you need more flexibility, you can pay $48 per class without committing to a full set, which is perfect if you can’t commit to a bunch of classes upfront.
But their limited hours can be a bit of a bummer since they’re closed from Fridays to Sundays. This schedule might not be ideal if you have a busy weekday routine, especially if you’re a parent looking to fit in lessons over the weekend.
On a positive note, Perfect Pitch offers online piano lessons through FaceTime, WhatsApp, and Google Hangouts. It’s perfect for those who prefer learning from home and already have a piano set up.
Pros
- Offers free trial class
- Affordable small group classes
- Accepts per class payments
- Offers online piano classes
Cons
- Closed from Fridays to Sundays
Great emphasis on technique
“My 2 girls have been taking piano lessons with Susan for a year now and they’ve had great progresses. Susan is an amazing teacher, she makes the lessons fun and despite being in a group setting, she tailors the lesson plans to match each child’s ability. We love her emphasis on techniques which adds so much depth into the pieces. Her semiannual music recitals are so much joy that we always look forward to.”

Patient and understanding
“I have been taking piano lessons from Susan since September, and I am extremely impressed with her teaching style. She is very knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond to cater to each of her students’ individual needs. She is patient and understanding, and I have seen great improvement in my piano skills since I started taking lessons with her. I highly recommend her as a piano teacher.”

StudioVivian offers lessons every day, which is helpful when life gets hectic with kids. This flexibility makes it easier to fit piano lessons into your busy schedule.
What we like most about them are their in-house Spring and Winter concerts held in June and December. These events give your child a chance to build stage confidence and show off their progress in a supportive setting.
Plus, there’s a fun reception afterwards to celebrate the students’ achievements and build a sense of community.
However, note that StudioVivian focuses mainly on piano lessons for kids and doesn’t offer much for adults. If you’re an adult looking for piano instruction, you might need to explore other options.
Nonetheless, we love how StudioVivian tailors each curriculum to fit students’ interests and learning styles. Whether your child wants to learn Royal Conservatory pieces, popular songs, or jazz, they’ve got it covered, making every lesson engaging and aligned with their goals.
Pros
- Offers flexible schedule
- Hosts in-house Spring and Winter concerts
- Personalized curriculum for each student
Cons
- Doesn’t focus on piano for adults
Great for classic and jazz piano
“My daughter has taken piano lessons for many years, starting at age 6. She took classical lessons until he was 14, and then switched to mostly jazz. After 6 years with two different classical teachers, and then two with a jazz teacher, we finally found Jennifer from Studio Vivian. The match was perfect — our daughter’s love for playing jazz grew quite strong and fast. And Jennifer assured that her knowledge of jazz theory, jazz musicians and technique kept pace. Today, after just three years, the two are like old friends playing together when Jennifer comes for lessons.”

Knows how to effectively teach kids with ADHD
“Jenine is a calm, funny, knowledgeable, passionate, and very, very patient piano teacher. She has taught my son how to play piano, read music, and the basics of music theory. I have to mention that my son has ADHD and it is quite hard for him to stay focused for long time and I was really worrying on how he is going to handle this. But Jenine is very good teacher, she planned her lessons with him so they switch activity every 10-15 minutes, play different melodies, she even added 5 minutes little game in the middle of the lesson. I really appreciate she did not give up on my son and is helping him to become a better person. My son loves piano lessons and I can see that he is really trying to learn, he is asking questions, reading books about music, I mean he really got engaged in piano playing and it makes me happy. I recommend Jenine to any student or parent without hesitation.”

Stelth Ng’s Downtown Music Studio is a solid choice for one-on-one piano lessons, especially for young children or adults with no prior musical experience. Stelth also teaches piano and violin, so it’s convenient to learn both without finding separate teachers.
From what we’ve seen, his studio is known for producing well-rounded musicians who excel in technical skills and music theory. The students we chatted with shared that Stelth ensures they understand musical structure and notation by including theoretical lessons in their training.
Since Stelth is pretty popular, there might be a waitlist for his classes. The quickest way to get in touch during the day is via email, which can be a bit of a hassle.
Also, his rates are pricier at $100 per hour, but that’s because of the quality and attention he offers. Just so you know, he doesn’t offer a free trial lesson, so you’ll need to commit financially right away.
Still, we love how Stelth’s sense of humour keeps lessons relaxed and fun, making it easier for students to stay motivated. Many students have noticed great progress and really enjoy his engaging teaching style.
Pros
- Great for individual lessons
- Provides well-rounded instruction
- Great personality and teaching style
Cons
- Limited availability
- Pricier than others
Enjoyable and productive for adult students
“Taking piano lessons with Stelth has been an absolute joy! Even as an adult student, I’ve felt completely at ease in his sessions. Stelth makes every lesson a fun learning adventure. His patience and talent are matched only by his obvious love for teaching. I couldn’t recommend Stelth more highly to anyone thinking about learning the piano, no matter your age or experience level. I’m excited to continue my musical journey with such a great teacher!”
Maryam Merrikhpour, Google Review
Has extensive professional experience
“Stelth possesses exceptional skills as a piano instructor, with extensive professional experience enabling him to grasp the intricate nuances of classical music effortlessly. He adeptly imparts his knowledge in an engaging and professional manner, making him a truly remarkable teacher.”
