Pros
- Operates over 30 clinics
- Has multiple LASIK surgeons available
- Has financing plans
- Offers vision correction alternatives
Cons
- Cases of cancelled appointments
- Can improve on aftercare service
In 2001, LASIK MD established its first clinic in Montreal. Since then, it has grown with over 30 clinics across Canada.
Its founders, Dr Mark Cohen and Dr Avi Wallerstein are the company’s current medical directors. Their vast experience in ophthalmology and refractive care can be a starting point for potential client’s trust.
We appreciate that there are currently six LASIK surgeons at the Edmonton City Centre clinic. Meanwhile, the northwest area has four available.
We mentioned this because it helps with availability during busy months. The more doctors available, the more clients they can accommodate.
As for their prices, they have reasonable rates. For standard LASIK, it starts at $490 per eye.
But in our experience, there’s almost no guarantee to get the lowest price because it will depend on your eye condition
Despite that, the clinic still offers affordable prices because they own many laser equipment instead of leasing it.
Additionally, there’s a financing option available through PayBright. Because of the flexible payment options, you can choose one that suits your budget.
On the downside, we think they can improve on aftercare service. There were complaints about unresponsiveness with follow-up appointments.
Also, we believe an improvement in customer service is needed. There were issues regarding cancelled bookings, which sadly messed up some clients’ schedules.
If you’re still undecided about getting laser eye surgery, LASIK MD offer alternatives for vision correction. Just remember that some procedures may not be applicable depending on your condition.

Pros
- Over 18 years of experience
- Clean facility
- Offers various procedures
- Has a financing plan
- Doctor has good bedside manner
Cons
- Closes earlier on Fridays
- Only two doctors available
With over 18 years of experience, Visionmax Eye Centre has had more than 50,000 surgeries. It offers various vision correction services for patients to find one that best suits their needs.
There are currently two doctors at the clinic: Dr Daniel Senekal and Dr Nohad Teliani.
Dr Senekal operates the procedures and even had LASIK surgery over 25 years ago. Meanwhile, Dr Teliani focuses on pre and post-op examination for refractive and cataract patients.
As for the facility, it was kept clean by the staff. We appreciate the well-maintained clinic, especially with medical operations.
Going back to their vision correction, we appreciate their various procedures. Understandably, some patients may not be eligible for LASIK, so we like that you have other options at the clinic.
Additionally, they have an online assessment form to check your eligibility. Also, only your doctor will talk to you regarding the assessment.
Moreover, the staff were accommodating, friendly, and efficient, as told by past patients. In our opinion, good customer service is a big help, especially with nervous patients.
Besides that, past patients also like Dr Senekal’s calm approach. He also showed excellent bedside manners, ensuring his patients were relaxed for the surgery.
Unfortunately, they close a tad earlier on Fridays. You may need to get off work much earlier than you usually do.
But we appreciate they accept Medicard for financing since not many insurance providers in Edmonton cover laser eye surgeries.
Lastly, we suggest arranging your calendar for your appointment. They have a small team of doctors, and you may not get your preferred days.

Pros
- Convenient location
- Has other branches
- Well-maintained facility
- Offers financing plan
Cons
- Instances of long wait time
- Can improve on customer service
Specialising in LASIK surgery alone is King LASIK in Edmonton, which has performed over 50,000 surgeries. It also has other locations in British Columbia.
It was co-founded by Dr Joseph King, also the clinic’s laser eye surgeon. But you’ll be glad to know they have three more doctors that perform vision correction procedures when others are fully booked.
We appreciate the many parking areas at their location, which is convenient for the patient’s companion. It’s because the clinic is currently limiting the number of people inside as a safety protocol.
As for the inside of the facility, it’s well-maintained and clean. What’s more, they have state-of-the-art equipment for a safe procedure.
However, some patients mentioned the delays. There was a long wait time despite having an appointment.
Also, we think they can improve their customer service, especially during busy days. Some patients felt the staff treated them a bit rushed after getting the LASIK surgery.
On a good note, they felt the whole process went by smoothly because of the friendliness and thoroughness of the staff and doctors.
The doctors also answered every question to ensure the patients knew the pros and cons of LASIK surgery.
On a different note, they offer a financing plan with PayBright. Since some surgeries can be pricey based on your eyes, we appreciate the payment flexibility.
Finally, Dr King operates in all locations. But their Fort McMurray clinic has recently closed, and we recommend Edmonton since it’s the closest location.
4. Lifetime Eyecare

Pros
- Convenient location
- Offers many eye care services
- Accepts many insurance plans
- Has an easy booking process
- Known for personable approach
Cons
- Lack of financing plan
- Some pricing miscommunication
Lifetime Eyecare is an Edmonton clinic offering many optometry services. It promises a specialised treatment for each patient, ensuring that your eye care needs are met with the highest standards.
The clinic is located in the Mill Woods Town Centre, along with many other professional services. There’s also a huge parking area, so you won’t have a problem even during packed days.
It’s worth mentioning that their website has instructions and the necessary details about LASIK surgery, including post-op care. We appreciate the information to give clients realistic expectations of the surgery’s effects.
However, there were a few pricing miscommunications. The good thing is that the staff rectified the situation, which we believe shows professionalism because they immediately owned up to the mistake.
Although we appreciate the many insurance and medical plans they accept, we think they can add a financing plan for LASIK surgeries.
You see, it’s an elective surgery. Because it isn’t medically required, many insurances won’t cover it, unlike contact lenses and eyeglasses.
The clients we talked with liked the easy booking process and quick responses. They mentioned it was a smooth-sailing, even with aftercare service and follow-ups.
Apart from that, their clients also liked the personable approach of the staff and doctors. They made sure each patient was well taken care of to avoid any more anxiety about their surgeries.
Lifetime Eyecare also offers a variety of eyeglasses, which is convenient since some LASIK surgery patients may still use them for night driving.
5. Calgary Trail Vision Centre

Pros
- Over 30 years in the industry
- Provides a wide range of services
- Convenient location
- Advanced equipment
- Offers same-day service for lenses
Cons
- Small team
- Lacks financing option
For more than 30 years, Calgary Trail Vision Centre has been providing many eye health services to Edmonton patients. They serve people in different age groups, promising specialised care.
We appreciate the location with some nearby restaurants. If the clinic is packed, the client’s companion can have a place to wait.
In addition, there are many parking spots around the building. So the client won’t have to walk for a long time after the LASIK surgery.
Their eye surgeon, Dr Bruce Butts, has been practising for over 35 years. With the skills he’s acquired throughout the years, we think many clients will feel at ease with his expertise.
Additionally, we feel you’ll appreciate the advanced equipment they have at the clinic. The list is actually available on their website if you want a more detailed look.
Another thing we appreciate is the wide variety of services despite having a small team. Aside from LASIK surgery, they also treat dry eyes and have eye disease management.
But if you’re still undecided about LASIK, they do same-day service for new lenses. But remember that you must book an appointment for more complex eye situations.
Although they accept insurance for some services, they can include a financing option since LASIK isn’t usually covered in the policies.
But we’re glad to hear that Dr Butts’ patients were happy with his bedside manner and professionalism. He was also very knowledgeable and caring to his patients.
If you need LASIK or other eye care services, we think it’s good to check out Calgary Trail Vision Centre. They even have a satisfaction survey to check for any room for improvement.
