Cedric Hughes founded Hughes Law Corporation, and he has around three decades of experience in the industry—we’re confident he can get the job done!

Hughes also specialises in real estate law, which basically cements his expertise in the area. He handles conveyancing, mortgage refinancing, landlord/tenant disputes, and others—quite a lot, actually!

What’s awesome is he works with residential and commercial clients, so he’s really accessible to Vancouverites. That’s not all because he also accepts clients outside of Vancouver, which makes him flexible if you plan on moving to another city.

He has a small team, though, which we wouldn’t normally mind, but it can affect his schedule. According to some clients we spoke with, there were times when they couldn’t get a hold of him.

That’s not a usual occurrence, thankfully, since he and his staff are still efficient. And when it comes to rates, his fees won’t break the bank—pretty cost-effective, too!

Pros

  • Specialises in real estate law
  • Residential and commercial services
  • Accepts clients outside Vancouver
  • Cost-effective solutions

Cons

  • Few issues regarding slow responses

    Pleasant and helpful

“When I decided to sell my apartment, I contacted Cederic Hughes and he immediately got me in touch with a good realtor who I could interview.  After the sale of my apartment, everything about the conveyance was handled very nicely by Hughes and Company. The office staff advised me on successfully getting rid of a 14-day hold on my funds so that I could use the cash to pay for my new home.  I was very pleased with how pleasant, helpful and conscientious the office staff were.  thank you”

    Absolutely phenomenal

“Cedric was absolutely phenomenal. Our sale and purchase was far from simple and posed unique challenges. Cedric navigated the obstacles with meticulous care and attention. At the end of the day, we got the house we wanted. Never felt left in the dark, always informed. Thank you Cedric”

In 2014, Jeffrey Horricks founded his law firm, Horricks Law. He and his team specialises in real estate, corporate, and commercial law.

One of our favourite things is he focuses on all aspects of residential real estate, which makes him accessible to many clients in Vancouver. However, his practice isn’t focused on commercial real estate, which is a bummer as it limits his availability.

But when you contact him, we’re thrilled to report that he answers the phone! That’s impressive, given he has a small team—they still manage to provide a personalised experience for each client even when their schedule is busy!

During our client surveys, many noted Horricks’ straightforward approach. They mentioned he was straight to the point but remained friendly, a quality we appreciate.

Price-wise, he’s an affordable real estate lawyer in Vancouver! We also like the upfront pricing, which is important to avoid the chances of surprise charges.

    Pros

    • Good communication
    • Straightforward approach
    • Reasonable fees

    Cons

    • Not focused on commercial real estate

      Provided expert, timely advice

“I have relied upon Jeff for legal support on a number of occasions over the past 5 years and he has, on each and every occasion, provided expert, timely service, with no fuss and at a reasonable fee. I continue to use Jeff, and strongly recommend him for your legal needs.”

      Robert Weston, Google Review

      Professional and courteous

“Jeff has been both professional and courteous throughout my entire time with him. He has reasonable rates and has taken care of everything I have asked of him swiftly and efficiently. I would recommend him as a lawyer to anyone in need of one”

Munro & Crawford has solidified their reputation in Vancouver, having been established in 1952. If you do the math, that’s an impressive over 70 years in the business!

They specialise in estate planning, corporate law, and family law. While real estate is not their main focus, they still have a qualified lawyer for that.

Ronald Argue has over 40 years of experience and is an efficient lawyer, which his clients have mentioned a lot. We appreciate his no-frills approach because, in real estate law, we love straightforward communication because it keeps things going.

He and his staff are also flexible because they can make special arrangements if you can’t meet them in person. That’s not something that other law firms provide, so this deserves extra points!

Plus, we appreciate the fixed rates for real estate law services. You can still get a reasonable fee despite Argue’s decades of experience—pretty cost-effective, too!

      Pros

      • Highly experienced
      • Straightforward communication
      • Fixed rates
      • Flexible meetings

      Cons

      • Real estate law is not the main focus

        No-nonsense, polite, and efficient

“Very happy with Munro & Crawford!  Handled aspects of an estate file with an international connection and foreign solicitors. The firm is no-nonsense, polite, efficient. Ron Argue is a seasoned professional. Katarina Tagliafero, our day-to-day liaison, was a pleasure to work with from file intake to closing. All we could ask for and more.”

        Gee Bee, Google Review

        Extremely professional

“I recently had Ron and Katarina of Munro & Crawford manage a rather complex estate matter involving real estate, financial assets, searches for persons on two continents, and various other issues. They were extremely professional, courteous, forthright, and responsive in all of my interactions. And lastly, for the level of professionalism I received, their fees were extremely reasonable. I wholeheartedly recommend their firm if you are seeking assistance with estate matters.”

Cindy E. Silver is the founder of Silver & Associates Law Corporation. What caught our attention is she’s both a barrister and solicitor, and her 30 years of experience is an added perk!

She specialises in residential and commercial real estate conveyancing. But what’s impressive is she and her staff handle small and big cases, which makes them super accessible to many Vancouver residents!

Silver knows how to talk to clients. During our surveys, she was praised for being personable yet professional, and they also noted her efficiency, which made the whole process smooth.

However, the experience isn’t the same with the whole staff. There were a few complaints about poor communication and slow responses, but the good thing is these issues seem to be rare occurrences.

When it comes to real estate lawyer’s fees, she can provide cost-effective solutions. That’s one less thing to worry about, so we appreciate it.

        Pros

        • Residential and commercial services
        • Handles small and big cases
        • Cost-effective solutions

        Cons

        • Few reports of poor communication

          Excellent service

“Excellent Service from Silver & Associates Law Corporation! We had a great experience working with Silver & Associates Law Corporation for the purchase of our home in North Vancouver. Their team was professional, efficient, and made the entire process seamless. We highly recommend their services to anyone in need of legal assistance for real estate transactions.”

          Nelson Narciso, Google Review

          Worked professionally and quickly

“Amazing overall experience working with Silver & Associates. I reached out to them on the purchase of our home, and they worked professionally and quickly to get everything in order for us on a short closing date. Day of our appointment my husband’s work schedule changed last minute and when we called, they easily moved our appointment up to earlier in the day with no hesitation. Cindy was great- professional, knowledgeable and very personable! She happily let our 1-year-old daughter run around the office while we talked business. Will definitely use them again in the future and would refer them to others.”

Here’s the impressive thing about Dan H. Griffith: he’s a meditator and arbitrator, giving him lots of experience resolving disputes. It does come in handy when you need to find the middle ground.

He’s also a partner at ATAC Law, but that’s not the important part here. What’s incredible is his personalised service, which we think is because he worked in a boutique law firm before, so he probably carried that over.

We also like his accessibility. The law firm has two locations, in Vancouver and Burnaby, which is very helpful because you can go to whichever is nearest—and yes, you can find Griffith working in both offices.

You should know that he specialises mainly in real estate development law, which is a bummer because he mainly caters to developers, builders, and investors. He’s not exactly the go-to for homebuyer transactions.

Nonetheless, his fees are not ridiculously expensive—more cost-effective!

          Pros

          • Personalised service
          • Has two offices
          • Cost-effective solutions

          Cons

          • Not ideal for individual transactions

Was able to accommodate me right away

“I needed to book an appointment in a short period of time, although the firm was very busy, they were very nice and understanding, and was able to accommodate and book an appointment for me right away. The lawyer and people are very nice, highly recommend!”

            Rachel Zhang, Google Review

            Kind and understanding

“Here I want to thank lawyer Dan H. Griffith and his team who put a lot of efforts and hard working on my case. Without Dan my case can’t be solved successfully with a satisfying ending. Dan is a trustworthy lawyer, also he is a very kind and understanding person. I was very lucky to choose him as my lawyer when I had no idea where to go. I highly recommended lawyer Dan and his team because of everything they’ve done for me in every helpful way. Thank you very much, Dan.”
